Marine Carpenter

Purpose:
Perform expert woodworking and carpentry tasks on boats and marine equipment, ensuring structural integrity, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. This role supports Irish Boat Shop's mission to promote recreational boating by delivering exceptional craftsmanship, aligning with our values of integrity, customer partnership, and environmental stewardship.
 
Responsibilities:

• Construct, repair, and install wooden components on boats, including decks, cabinetry, trim, and custom fixtures.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments to measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials.
• Inspect boats for structural integrity and recommend necessary repairs or enhancements.
• Sand, stain, varnish, or paint wooden surfaces to ensure durability and a polished finish.
• Collaborate with Service Manager, technicians, and customers to achieve desired outcomes.
• Maintain and organize tools and workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment when operating tools and handling materials.
• Keep detailed records of time, materials, and progress for each project.
• Assist with other maintenance and repair tasks as needed to support team operations.
• Show initiative to assist in other areas when work is slow.

• Proven experience in woodworking, carpentry, or a related field, preferably in marine environments.
• Strong knowledge of wood types, finishes, adhesives, and tools specific to marine applications.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and measurements accurately.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality craftsmanship with attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in carpentry and woodworking.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
