Marine Mechanic

Purpose:
Provide flexible, hands-on support across various departments to ensure smooth operations throughout the boating seasons. This role is key to Irish Boat Shop’s ability to adapt to seasonal demands, helping to deliver exceptional service while supporting our mission of promoting recreational boating.
 
Responsibilities:

• Assist with seasonal boat handling, including moving, launching, and hauling vessels.
• Support mechanics by preparing work areas, delivering tools, and assisting with repairs and maintenance.
• Work with the rigging team to help install masts, rigging, and sails.
• Deliver boats to customers or between locations, ensuring safe handling and transportation.
• Perform general yard work, including cleaning and organizing boats, equipment, and facilities.
• Adapt to various tasks as needed, including supporting painting, varnishing, or detailing teams.
• Follow safety procedures and help maintain a safe work environment.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with customers or assisting other team members.
• Keep tools, equipment, and the workspace clean and organized.
• Take initiative to assist in any area where there is a need.

• Experience: Previous experience in general labor, marine industry work, or a similar field is preferred but not required.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and climb on/off boats and ladders.
• Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to a variety of tasks and schedules based on seasonal demands.
• Skills: A quick learner with basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in boating.
• Communication: Strong ability to work as part of a team and interact positively with coworkers and customers.
• License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
