Fishing for History - Ice Fest Open House
Stop by the Harbor Springs History Museum during the DDA’s Ice Fest to experience the society’s newly created educational program “Fishing for History.”
Young historians of all ages and their families will get the chance to “ice fish” in the society’s mock pond and learn about the history of ice fishing in Harbor Springs - particularly about ice fishing’s importance in the past as a way to feed families. After taking their turn at the fishing hole, guests are invited to create several crafts related to the theme of ice fishing, including a sun catcher meant to mimic the look of a frozen pond’s surface.
Drop-in hours for “Fishing for History” are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm with admission by donation. Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be provided.
